New Teams, New Challenges, New Opportunities
After a short night, we got up around 7 AM, got dressed, and started packing our luggage because we were going to move to another hotel for safety reasons.
When we arrived at the bootcamp, the locals and the Ugandan students were playing a warm-up game. We joined them, and afterwards we went inside where we received a short explanation about what would happen during the next four days. We were then divided into four groups.
Each group was assigned a local business that we needed to help grow. The four businesses were: basket making, honey production, a local dance group, and brick making. At first, I was placed in the brick-making business, but this later changed to a local business that makes cups, phone holders, and baskets out of bamboo. The change happened because the bricks had been ruined by heavy rainfall the day before.
After lunch, we visited the business to learn more about it and understand how it works. When we returned to the bootcamp, only one other group was there because the bus had gotten stuck.
After waiting for some time, we left for our new hotel on the boda boda’s. Once we arrived, we settled in and freshened up. Later, we played some games while waiting for the others to arrive. When everyone was finally there, we had dinner and played a few more games before ending the day.
