New Teams, New Challenges, New Opportunities
After a brief night’s sleep, we woke up around 7 AM, got dressed, and began packing our bags as we were moving to a new hotel for safety reasons.
Upon arriving at the bootcamp, we found the locals and Ugandan students engaged in a warm-up game. We joined in, and afterwards, everyone headed indoors, where we were given a short overview of the activities planned for the next four days. We were then split into four groups.
Each group was assigned a local business to help develop. The businesses included basket making, honey production, a dance group, and brick making. Initially, I was part of the brick-making group, but due to heavy rainfall the previous day, the bricks had been damaged. As a result, I was reassigned to a business in creating cups, phone holders, and baskets from bamboo.
After lunch, we visited our business to learn more about its operations and gain a deeper understanding of how it worked. When we returned to the bootcamp, only one other group was there, as the bus transporting the others had become stuck.
After waiting for a while, we travelled to our new hotel by boda boda. Once we arrived, we settled in and took some time to freshen up. Later in the evening, we played games as we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. When everyone had finally made it, we enjoyed dinner together and played a few more games before wrapping up the day.
